Strengthening Green Economic Foundations

Funded by the African Development Bank (AfDB), the programme targets youth aged 18 to 35 operating businesses within the agroforestry, fisheries, aquaculture and biodiversity value chains. The programme prioritises women-led and persons with disabilities led businesses in Ghana and Senegal.

What is the MicroGREEN Programme?

The MicroGREEN Programme is an initiative that supports youth-led Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) in Ghana and Senegal to develop the knowledge, skills and business capacity needed to participate in green jobs and build sustainable businesses.

What does “MicroGREEN” mean?

MicroGREEN focuses on supporting MSMEs to create and grow businesses that contribute to a greener economy while creating employment opportunities for young people.

Is the programme free?

Yes. Participation in the MicroGREEN Programme is completely free. Applicants are not required to pay any fees at any stage of the programme.

What are green jobs?

Green jobs are jobs that help protect, restore and sustain the environment. They contribute to environmentally friendly economic activities while creating decent employment opportunities.

Who is eligible to apply?

The programme is open to youth-led MSMEs whose owners or leaders are between 18 and 35 years of age.

Priority will be given to:

  • Women-led businesses
  • Businesses led by Persons with Disabilities (PWDs)
  • Other eligible youth-led businesses
